Veterans’ Art Program Instructor — Job Description

Job Title: Part-Time Art Instructor – Veterans’ Art Program
Location: Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art
Schedule: Part-Time, 3.5 hours per week, year-round
Pay Rate: $27 per hour

Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled part-time art instructor to lead a creative art program designed specifically for veterans. The instructor will facilitate engaging, supportive, and inclusive art classes that encourage self-expression, skill development, and community building through the arts. This role is ideal for an artist/educator who is passionate about working with veterans and using art as a tool for wellness and connection.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach weekly art classes tailored to veterans of varying skill levels

  • Create a welcoming, respectful, and supportive classroom environment

  • Guide participants through art techniques while encouraging personal expression

  • Prepare lesson plans and organize materials for each month

  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace

  • Participate in required program training and ongoing professional development

  • Collaborate with the Education Director and provide feedback on class progress

Qualifications:

  • Background in visual arts and/or art education (formal education or equivalent experience)

  • Teaching or facilitation experience preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage a small group setting

  • Willingness to complete required training before or during employment
