Reverberations: New Acquisitions to The Square
September 12, 2025 - January 10, 2026
—Works from the Permanent Collection
Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art is proud to present Reverberations, an exhibition that brings together new acquisitions reflecting the enduring impact of history, culture, and the environment. Featuring works by artists Louis Still Smoking, Sean Chandler, Willem Volkersz, Peter Koch, Todd Anderson, and Ian van Coller, this exhibition invites viewers to explore how historical events—from the vanishing glaciers of Glacier National Park to the lasting scars of Indigenous boarding schools—continue to shape our lives today. Through a dynamic range of mediums including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography, Reverberations challenges us to engage with the effects of climate change, cultural survival, and industrial transformation. By weaving together these complex histories, the exhibition underscores the power of art to preserve and communicate the echoes of our collective past while offering hope and reflection on how we shape our shared future. Reverberations is a celebration of these new works, adding depth to the museum’s permanent collection and providing a meaningful opportunity to connect with the Montana experience and the broader human story.
This exhibition is curated from the Permanent Collection by Nicole Maria Evans, Chief Curator & Director of Curatorial Affairs at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art. Exhibitions at the museum are supported in part by the Montana Arts Council, a state agency funded by the State of Montana, and the National Endowment for the Arts. We are funded in part by coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana's cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund. Additional funding is provided by museum members and the citizens of Cascade County, Davidson Family Foundation, D.A. Davidson, Montana Credit Union, Hotel Arvon, First Interstate Bank, an anonymous donor, and Kelly’s Signs & Design.
