“A Thoughtful Response” Event Hits the Road for Sculpture in the Wild!
The Basics:
Sunday, August 27th: Depart Great Falls at 9:30am, Arrive in Lincoln by 11:30am. Arrive back in Great Falls around 5:00pm.
$40 for members and $45 for non-members | Catered Lunch included!

The Fine Print:
On Aug. 27, 2023, the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art (the Square) teams up with Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild (BPSW) for a field trip to experience music and art in nature near Lincoln, MT. The Square’s popular event, “A Thoughtful Response”, engages participants in meaningful discussion and enriches the experience of art and music. Discussion is facilitated by Sarah Justice, sculptor and Executive Director of the Paris Gibson Square Museum, and Alyssa Roggow, violist and interdisciplinary educator. Jenny Bevill, Executive Director of BPSW, will provide context about the sculptures and park.
Participants will depart from the Paris Gibson Square Museum at 9:30am and travel by carpool groups to Lincoln. Carpooling is available - environmentally friendly and make new friends! Carpool drivers who have 3 ticket-holding passengers qualify for a free event ticket. Upon arrival, there will be a chance to explore the park and a catered lunch will be provided around noon. After lunch, participants will experience and discuss sculptures by artists Sam Clayton, Alison Stigora, Kevin O’Dwyer, and Mark Jacobs, as well as music written by Philip Aaberg in response to the sculptures. Participants will return to the Square’s parking lot in Great Falls by 5:00pm.
Sculpture in the Wild is open 365 days a year from dawn to dusk and is always free to everyone. The rustic paths are accessible to all, and restrooms and picnic tables are ADA accessible. For this event, please bring a portable camp chair, water, and weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, and hat as needed. Tickets are $40 for museum members and $45 for non-members and can be purchased using the button below. Spots are limited, so reserve yours today!
This summer marks the 10th season of Lincoln’s award-winning sculpture park Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild. BPSW celebrates the rich cultural, environmental, and industrial heritage of the Blackfoot Valley. The 26-acre park hosts 22 art installations by artists from Germany, Norway, Finland, Ireland, Great Britain, Denmark, the USA, and the Northern Cheyenne nation. Celebratory events will be happening throughout the summer. The annual Fundraiser for Sculpture in the Wild is Sept 16th. Also, the new AIR (Artists in Residence) will be making work on site from Sept 4-22nd.
