Molly Murphy: Reservations Required

Dufresne & Cobb Foundations Gallery
November 5 - January 2, 2009
Reception 5:30-7:30pm November 19th
ArtShare Presentation 6:00pm

Molly Murphy’s work is laced with biting irony and wicked humor and grounded in traditional Native American practice of beadwork. Yet Murphy constantly confronts the challenges of the contemporary world with fresh innovative expressions, for example tee shirts and purse forms. There is an edge present in
Murphy’s work resulting from a contrast; on one hand expressing the focused practice of patience, on the other, the pressing central message that speaks to the challenges of survival.

This traveling exhibition was organized by the Missoula Art Museum, Stephen Glueckert, Curator and sponsored by the Museum and Art Gallery Directors Association of Montana.

Exhibition Sponsored by John & Sue Ann Stephenson-Love
