"Chalk it up to The Square"

Call to Artists

Chalk it up ArtisitRe: Sidewalk Art!, June 26, 2009
‘Chalk It Up to The Square’

Transform ordinary sidewalks in our Sculpture Garden into works of art. “Street painting” has an impressive, though somewhat mysterious, history. Some say that it’s a centuries-old tradition of Italian art in which artists, called “madonnari”, created chalk paintings of the Madonna. And it is said there are similar types of painting that can be traced back to the times of the Aztecs in

Mexico and 15th - century Europe. Although the artwork will disappear with the next good rain, we love to help raise the awareness for all things art.

I would like to invite you to be a participant for this fun event here at The Square. Supplies will be provided for you on Friday June 26, and you can come anytime during the hours of 11:00am to 8:00pm to create your sidewalk art! This is a great event to get outside, create, meet people and share your love of art!

On Saturday June 27, 9:00am to 12:00pm we invite the public to take part in creating side walk art of there own. This is a great opportunity for folks to take a look at your beautiful creations as well as try their hand at creating a masterpiece on cement!

Please RSVP by June 12:
to help us make sure we have enough supplies for all.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Thank you for your time and consideration.
