Welcome to The Square!

For more than 100 years, Paris Gibson Square has served as a center for education and cultural enrichment for Great Falls and the surrounding rural communities. Dedicated in 1896, the magnificent sandstone structure originally served as Central High School for 34 years and then as Paris Gibson Junior High for 45 years. Although it served only 46 students its first year, Paris Gibson and other city founders erected the building as a monument not only to the importance of education but to the vision of what Great Falls would someday become. In 1977, community volunteers renovated the historic Paris Gibson Square building, now a nationally registered historical landmark, as a community center to celebrate art, history and culture.

Patrons enjoy the unique juxtaposition of elegant 19th century architecture with dynamic exhibitions of contemporary art in seven different galleries and an outdoor sculpture garden. Exhibitions feature notable Montana artists while also examining the work of national and international contemporary artists who have made significant contributions to the art world. Exhibitions at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art explore issues, spark humor and inspire contemplation, using a sometimes astonishing variety of media. They also express the cultural and artistic diversity of the American Northwest.

Please join us as we explore imagination through exciting contemporary art exhibitions, encourage curiosity through diverse educational opportunities, and connect our communities with activities that reach out to everyone. Our programs are open to everyone, regardless of age or ability. At Paris Gibson Square, Art is for Everyone!
